cleanmarine

Simple and efficient EGCS product with the following key features:

•  A system that demonstrates a unique high PM trapping – also none sulfate PM.

•  A single gas liquid interface unit that serves all your combustion units being boilers or diesel engines.

•  A system that works totally independently of the combustion units it serves.

•  The exhaust back pressure and thereby the efficiency of the combustion units are not affected.

•  A system that fits equally well on new buildings and existing ships.

•  Both open (liquid one time through) and closed (liquid in recirculation) modes of operation is offered.

•  Simple operation principles, all well known by maritime personnel.

“Made by ship owners, for ship owners”.

Product features:

Since its beginning the company has been actively involved in testing and development of a scrubber design based on the AVC (Advanced vortex chamber) principle and technology (www.vortex-envirotech.com).The Clean Marine EGCS gas and liquid interface unit has a high speed cyclone incorporated in the design providing a unique high PM trapping efficiency.

An integrated fan and gas recirculation feature allows one single EGCS gas and liquid interface unit to simultaneously serve several combustion units.
This feature also ensures that the back pressure in the exhaust pipes and hence the efficiency of the combustion units is undisturbed.
A fail safe automatic gas bypass feature allows the ships to continue operating without disturbances should the system fall out of operation.

Our system works equally well in open (liquid one time through) and closed (liquid recirculation) modes while water and caustic soda (NaOH in 50% solution) is used to regulate the sulfur trapping efficiency.

As the systems works independently of the combustion units and the cleaning efficiency is governed by the NaOH feed only, the operation of the system is simple and robust.

The NaOH feed does also limit the pH reduction caused by the neutralization process. Hence the demands on the materials are less severe, thus providing a longer life time of the system at a lesser cost.

Except for the fans and the pumps, there are few moving parts and maintenance tasks are few and inexpensive.

The Clean Marine EGCS units are produced in standard sizes identified by the accumulated amount of gas which each unit can handle.  When selecting an EGCS unit, the highest practical gas flow that will be encountered will be identified. To be on the safe side, the next size EGCS available in the assortment will typically be recommended. By this simple principle, there will always be a ready design for any project or replacement needs. This Clean Marine standardized approach contributes to keeping capital expenditure low for the shipowner.

Cost benefit:

Our EGCS will allow the customer to continue operating on HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) irrespective of:

•  Sulfur content in the fuel

•  Trading area – inside or outside ECAs (Emission Control Areas)

•  Operation mode – in port, during maneuvering or at high sea

The obvious advantages are:

•  The average observed cost difference between HFO with any sulfur content and distillates with maximum 0.1% sulfur exceeds USD 300/mt and is increasing.

•  With an EGCS installed, only one fuel type is required versus multiple fuels with different behavior.

As a typical case when installing an exhaust gas cleaning system, this caters for an attractive payback time for the ship owner in the region 1-2 years depending on trading area, size, speed and fuel spread. For world wide operation, closer to 6 years payback time is realistic. For large installations and continued operation inside ECAs the payback time may be just a few months.

Our Products

With our Clean Marine EGCS (Exhaust Gas Cleaning System) product, fully complying with the IMO Annex VI sulfur requirement, we offer the maritime industry a flexible, simple and efficient EGCS. We take pride in the way maritime and process know how have been combined and reflected in our EGCS design.
